Reflections on Mark 4:35-41

Lord,

As you took rest,
A storm arose.
The wind and sea
became our foes.

Did you not know
About our plight,
Or care that we
Were filled with fright.

The waves loomed high
And midst the swell,
Our strength grew weak;
Our hearts turned pale.

Will you not wake
And hear our cry?
Help us, O Lord,
Lest we all die!

But now you rise,
And sense our fears.
You speak the words;
The tempest hears.

With "Peace, be still,"
You calm the sea.
We stand in awe.
How can this be?

Our meager faith
Proved frail today.
When came the test,
Our stays gave way.

But yet, in Christ,
Our faith will grow;
Though storms may come,
Though winds may blow.

God's love sustains.
Full grace to give.
It's by this faith
We all shall live.
